If it's the canister type, just unhook the hoses, unscrew the calmps holding in it place, pull the canister and insert the new one. Reconnect the hoses to the same fashion that you disconnected them.
Make sure you have some fresh fuel to put in the filter before reinstalling it, as you don't want to have any/much air in the system. And use a couple of binder clips to pinch the ends of the hoses so fuel doesn't spill everywhere. Remember gravity ....
