How do I change a fuel filter on a 2000 Ford Windstar LX?

I am looking for step by step instructions; do I need to shut the fuel off somehow first? Will fuel spray out at me? Should I do it on an empty gas tank? How do I change a fuel filter on a 2000 Ford Windstar LX?
the fuel filter should be under the right side (when you sit in the driver seat). You will see two metal tubes go into a larger metal tube. The large one is your fuel filter. Get two line wrenches to fit the two nuts and loosen the nuts. Put a bucket under it because there is going to be residual fuel in the line when you disconect it. Take out the old one and tighten the new one in. Replace any brackets that held the old filter in. It may take a second for your car to start afterwards because the lines need to be primed again. Hope that helps. How do I change a fuel filter on a 2000 Ford Windstar LX?
FORD FUEL FILTER REQUIRE A SPECIAL TOOL TO REMOVE THE PLASTIC LOCKS AT EACH END OF THE FILTER. OTHERWISE YOU CAN DAMAGE THEM. THEY ARE THE ONLY THING THAT HOLD IT TOGETHER SO THERE NO LEAK.

JACK UP THE VEHICLE AND USE SAFETY STANDS. TAKE SPECIAL TOOL AND DEPRESS THE LOCK. THERE WILL A SMALL AMOUNT OF GAS COMING OUT. IT IS THE PRES SUE IN THE FUEL LINE. SO NO SMOKING IN THE AREA. THE OTHER END COME A PART THE SAME WAY. TO INSTALL THE NEW FILTER. PRESS THE LINE INTO THE FILTER. yOU SHOULD HEAR A CLICK. tEST BY TRYING TO PUT THE OUT OF THE FILTER. tHE OTHER END GO THE SAME WAY. IT IS INSTALLED. THIS IMPORTANT! tURN THE KEY ON FIVE OR SIX TIMES. tHIS BUILD THE PRESSURE UP IN THE FUEL LINE. tHEN START THE VEHICLE AND CHECK FOR LEAKS AT THE FILTER. IF THERE LEAKS THEN CUT THE ENGINE OFF. THE LINES IS NOT ALL THE WAY IN THE FILTER. AND REPEAT THE START UP. tHERE SHOULD BE NO LEAKS AT ALL.
there is a fuse in the fuse panel... pull the fuse out for the fuel pump relay and then start the engine... let it run until it dies on it's own to take the pressure out of the lines... the fuel filter should be located on the drivers side between the back of the drivers door and the rear tire.... undo the strap holding the filter in place... ford has a ';quick disconnect'; fitting on their filters that take a special tool that can be bought at most parts stores - don't worry they aren't very expensive... that tool fits around the fuel line and slides into the end of the filter sometimes you have to press it in pretty firmly... this will release the lock that keeps the line from falling out... and then gently pull on the fuel line... if it hasn't been changed in several years it can be a real pain in the butt to get to release... do the other side the same way and then push the ends of the fuel line on to the new filter and reattach the strap around the filter... re-install the fuse and turn the key to the on position.... be sure to check for leaks.... hope this helps and good luck with it
Its a ford dont bother!!
