What are the precautions (maybe dealing w/pressure) before changing a fuel filter on a 03 ford explorer xlt?

i have seen how to change the filter but seen some vague blogs mentioning pressure or something...? how do you prepare the other parts of the vehicle before removing the old filter? What are the precautions (maybe dealing w/pressure) before changing a fuel filter on a 03 ford explorer xlt?
Simply loosening the gas cap wil not help. There should be a purge valve on the fuel rail that will allow the pressure to be released. What are the precautions (maybe dealing w/pressure) before changing a fuel filter on a 03 ford explorer xlt?
Pull fuel pump relay from the under hood relay box, crank vehicle, keep cranking until engine stops turning.

Fuel pressure is relieved.

Easy enough? Yes!

I do not know where this myth about the gas cap comes from. Fuel pressure--about 60 PSI of it--is not affected by opening the gas cap as the pressure between the fuel pump all the way up to the injectors will not be bled off!
Remove the gas cap so less pressure in gas system and make sure you use a container to catch the gas that spills out of the line, plus be sure you re-clipthe filter right and a special tool can be bought for gas filter clips at most part stores.
Pinch the line if you can see any rubber line use vice grips to close the line before and after the filter if not just loosen it enough to bleed off the pressure.
Loosen the gas cap then just loosen the line enough for the excess fuel and pressure to dribble out, then remove the line completely. GOOD LUCK!!
just open the gas cap
