Saab 1992 2.3 l 16 v will not fire, turns over. was run ruff at low speeds change fuel regular & filter?

I can smell gas when I try to start the Saab. From what I have read the fuel pump is a good thing to start with for replacement. I do not have a good means of checking. I do not want to replace I have never replaced one. How do you do it on a Saab? i did pull the AMM and tried to start the car, same thing.Saab 1992 2.3 l 16 v will not fire, turns over. was run ruff at low speeds change fuel regular %26amp; filter?
To check if the fuel pump is bad, open up your fuse box and find the fuse for fuel pump and hazard warning lights. Pull them both out. Now get a small piece of insulated wire (18awg,like from a speaker) strip a half inch on both ends,

then jump the two empty fuse blocks together. You should hear the pump turn on, if you don't, it could be the problem.Saab 1992 2.3 l 16 v will not fire, turns over. was run ruff at low speeds change fuel regular %26amp; filter?
It sounds like you fouled the plugs.Pull the plugs and inspect them.If you are smelling gas when you turn the car over ,fuel delivery is not a problem. If the injector nozzles are getting plugged ,they would cause rough idle and plug fouling.Check the plugs for wetness (flooding)black deposits(carbon fouling from rich mixture).Replace the plugs and clean the injectors(fuel additive)It is a good idea to inspect the air filter at this time, and replace it if required.
