Does anyone know where to find and how to change the fuel filter on a 02 kia rio?

believe it or not on this kia the filter is in your fuel tank.

ase techDoes anyone know where to find and how to change the fuel filter on a 02 kia rio?
I MAY NOT FAMILIAR W/ THIS CAR,BUT MY GUESS IS THAT THERE IS NO SERVICEABLE FILTER ON THIS CAR.THE ONLY FILTER MAY BE INSIDE THE TANK,WHICH CAN ONLY BE REPLACED W/ THE PUMP.THE BEST BET IS CALL A DEALER AND ASK THEM FOR THE FUEL FILTER IF THEY SAY NO THAT MEANS IT'S ALL IN THE TANK.AND IF THEY HAVE A LISTING FOR IT ASK THEM WHERE IS TI LOCATED.Does anyone know where to find and how to change the fuel filter on a 02 kia rio?
Its in the rear of the car close to the tire. It is round and silver. it might have a holder attached to it to the frame that u have to take off. Follow the rubber line from the tank to the front. I believe its on the divers side, but could be wrong.

How can you tell if the fuel filter is the original or if its been changed?

I know I had a fuel injection cleaning and a fuel filter changed but I recently went to get an oil change and the mechanic said that I still had the cars original part that had never been replaced. How can I tell? I have a 2000 Chevy MalibuHow can you tell if the fuel filter is the original or if its been changed?
You really cant tell especially if they are using the same brand.

Best thing to do if you ever get it changed make a marking on the new that you know , so if someone ever tells you that it needs to be changed and changes it, ask them for the old one and find your marking. Some shops take advantage of woman, be careful. Also if you dump a fuel system cleaner every other month, and dont run your car on empty all the time..that will save your filters and your gas pump! Fuel system cleaners that you dump in your gas tank run about $5-$10 dollars. and tell your man to take care of these things ; )How can you tell if the fuel filter is the original or if its been changed?
well.....if the store used a GM fuel filter it will be identical to the one they supposedly replaced so may be tough to prove anything.
Fuel filter is cheap and easy to replace if you have a car lift --- like a auto-garage will.

The part only costs like 10 bucks and it should take them less than 5 minutes to swap them because they just plug-in.
look for wrench marks on the nuts and bolts. Look for scrap marks on the fuel filter from tools. You always leave your mark when you work on something. Call the press cause you just meet superman.
no way to really tell, I would say your oil change mechanic is just trying to drum up business for himself as if it was replaced with an origional filter from GM there would be no way to tell.

  • I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee (4wd) I need to know How to change my fuel filter?

The fuel filter is on the drivers side under the vehicle about midway between the front/back. Its pretty easy to change just a pair of pliers and screw driver is all you'll need depending on if it has the screw hose clamps or the squeeze type. You'll get a little gas once you unhook it. Make sure you install the new fuel filter with the ';Flow'; arrow pointed towards the engine. I'd buy a new filter first so you got everything you need before you take the old one off. You probably won't even need to jack up the vehicle if you can squeeze under it.

Good luck you cab do this. I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee (4wd) I need to know How to change my fuel filter?

well first of all there is no such thing as a fuel filter pump. there is a fuel pump and a fuel filter, and they are both different things. if i were you i would go to a mechanic. it is an extreme hassle for you to change either one of these yourself
Which one do you need to change the fuel pump or fuel filter? Fuel filter is on fuel line under the box in front of fuel tank and fuel pump needs to have tank dropped.
well 1st u need to figure out what ur changing... the fuel filter or the fuel pump, and since u apparently don't know what ur talking about u should have went to a manual (of ur vehicle) and looke in there (there is something diffrent in each vehicle) and/or u should go to an auto mechanic

What are the precautions (maybe dealing w/pressure) before changing a fuel filter on a 03 ford explorer xlt?

i have seen how to change the filter but seen some vague blogs mentioning pressure or something...? how do you prepare the other parts of the vehicle before removing the old filter? What are the precautions (maybe dealing w/pressure) before changing a fuel filter on a 03 ford explorer xlt?
Simply loosening the gas cap wil not help. There should be a purge valve on the fuel rail that will allow the pressure to be released. What are the precautions (maybe dealing w/pressure) before changing a fuel filter on a 03 ford explorer xlt?
Pull fuel pump relay from the under hood relay box, crank vehicle, keep cranking until engine stops turning.

    Fuel pressure is relieved.

    Easy enough? Yes!

I do not know where this myth about the gas cap comes from. Fuel pressure--about 60 PSI of it--is not affected by opening the gas cap as the pressure between the fuel pump all the way up to the injectors will not be bled off!
Remove the gas cap so less pressure in gas system and make sure you use a container to catch the gas that spills out of the line, plus be sure you re-clipthe filter right and a special tool can be bought for gas filter clips at most part stores.
Pinch the line if you can see any rubber line use vice grips to close the line before and after the filter if not just loosen it enough to bleed off the pressure.
Loosen the gas cap then just loosen the line enough for the excess fuel and pressure to dribble out, then remove the line completely. GOOD LUCK!!
    just open the gas cap

    Cost of changing fuel filter?

How much should I expect to pay to have the fuel filter changed on a 2000 Mustang V-6?Cost of changing fuel filter?
Well, the fuel filter itself only costs about $10.00 from Ford, and the filter on your particular car is situated next to the fuel tank, above the axle where it is easy to access. I'm guessing @ 0.5 hours labour @ $100.00 per flat rate hour, you should be looking at about $60.00 TOTAL. Hope this helps.

ADDED: If you are going to attempt to replace the filter yourself, you are going to need the ';coupler release'; tools on your particular vehicle. A screwdriver only works on other models that use the ';horseshoe clips'; to retain the filter, which your car doesn't use.Cost of changing fuel filter?

Find %26amp; fix the leak first. raw gas %26amp; hot engine parts don't mix wellI have bmw 320i 1988 and i want to ask how to know that i need to change the fuel filter?
If you are smelling gas, you have a leak. Check around the injectors after the motor has been running and been driven. You should be able to see a visible means of the leak. I have an 87 Accord that was doing the same thing and I had 2 injector seals leaking. I would check this first. If you don't have any leaks that you see, then start checking the fuel lines and seals around the injection system. That smell is coming from somewhere. This would also account for the performance being off and I bet your mileage is down as well.
Here is a photo of the fuel filter for the 1988 BMW 325i: http://67.129.153.73/CGv2Production/Pict

When you change the fuel filter look for leaks in the fuel lines.

You might also check the exhaust system to see if the catalytic converter or some other part is clogged. That would also cause low power.
sounds like you have head gasket/intake manifold problem. you may need to change that before you clean the fuel injectors. The reason you have low horsepower is a vacuum leak or compression leak is developed once the gasket composition ibreaks down. There may be a pinch in the gasket which allows air to escape since it's no longer tightly sealed. you can also check for a vacuum hose that's not attached to the proper port. This is also a sign that you need a gasket. The pressure from the intake builds up,seeps out and creates a backdraft of pressure throughout the air compression system of the engine that in turn causes hoses to be 'blown off'. 98.9% chance it's the gasket because you smell fuel AND low compression/horsepower. So, get the gasket changed first then clean the injectors. That should solve the problem.

I have a 98 S10 with the 2.2 liter engine. i wanna change the fuel filter but before i take it off, do i need to release the pressure? if so, how would i do it?HOW DO CHANGE THE FUEL FILTER ON MY S10?
Your fuel filter is located on the driver's side, underneath your pickup, just behind the transmission and off to the side. It's a round, silver cylinder approx 3 -4 inches long with a prong coming out of one end and a nut on the other. First, release the fuel pressure by opening the fuel filler door. Then you replace it by squeezing the quick release plastic clip on the front and sliding the fuel line forward; you then use a wrench to loosen the nut on the back. Be prepared for some gas spillage with a container or some old rags. Once it is loosened, you remove it from its bracket, replace it, hook it back up (reverse of what you did) and it should be good to go. It is not in the gas tank HOW DO CHANGE THE FUEL FILTER ON MY S10?
You only need to loosen the filter flared nuts slowly to relieve the pressure.

Also, loosen the gas cap to release the pressure in the tank. You will still spill bout a quart.

http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBrokerHow to change a fuel filter on a 1998 Ford Escort LX???
most fuel lines have special connectors on them which require a special pneumatic tool...it wouldn't cost much to have it done. takes less than 5 mins with proper tool
    1. The in line fuel filter is mounted in the engine compartment. Routine replacement of the filter is not required.although you'll want to replace it if you suspect it's clogged.

    2. Relieve fuel system pressure

    3. Place an approved gasoline container under the fuel filter to catch any gasoline that drips.

    4. Pull the plastic hairpin-type retain clip out of the upper fuel line connector. Push the hose off the fitting.

    5.Loosen the filter clamp.

    6. Securely block the rear wheels so the vehicle can't roll. Jack up the front end and place it on jack stands. DO NOT get under a vehicle that's supported only by a jack!

    7. Pull the hairpin-type retaining clip from the hose at the bottom of the filter and disconnect the hose.

    8. Installation is the reverse of the removal ...steps

I have a 1998 Chevy Malibu. I want to change the spark plugs and fuel filter.?

Can someone give details on where to find the plugs?? Also, on how to change the fuel filter?? Thanks for your help!!!I have a 1998 Chevy Malibu. I want to change the spark plugs and fuel filter.?
I am a GM service manager and I tend to agree withthe other answer you have from the Dodge guy. But here's what you can do. First determine the engine size that you have ( 3.1L or a 2.4L or maybe a 3.4L). Next, contact your local GM dealer and ask them if you can get them to pull up document #184476 for the 3.1 or document #256434 if you have the 2.4L from their GM service Information (SI) webpage. They will know exactly what this is. Those before mentioned documents are the service procedures for changing the spark plugs in each respective engine. Note that these engines are very different. You can have them fax these over to you. They are only about 1-2 pages long with illustrations. Now if you still feel sketchy about it, you should probably take the vehicle in to a shop to have the work done. If you are using platinum plugs, you will only have to pay a shop to change the plugs every about 100,000 miles or so. Probably worth the price seeing as how long you can go before you need them done again.

As far as the fuel filter. I'm not sure if your's is in-line or in the tank. If it's in the tank, you would consider it unservicable. And even if you wanted to service it yourself, I have reservations about instructing you on changing it. You see there is pressure on the fuel line and if you try to open the line, fuel will come out. You could hurt yourself or cause a catastrophic event in a matter of seconds is something goes wrong.

Long story short, just pay the money and have someone else do it. That way you don't have to worry about it, it is done, guaranteed, and you won't have to do it again for quite a while. All of these things usually make the money you spend worth it.I have a 1998 Chevy Malibu. I want to change the spark plugs and fuel filter.?
i own a repair shop, and if your having a hard time finding these things i really think you should let someone else do this for you,i can tell you don't have much experience at this, and you may wind up costing your self more money than you think your going to save,by trying it your self, either that or get a good repair manual for the car ,because i got a feeling you are going to need it before its over with, good luck i hope this help,s.
I also own a 1998 Chevy Malibu LS. I purchased the spark plugs thinking that I could do them myself. I was told that the front three would be easy and the back three are the hardest. They r located under the spark plug wires once you remove them u will see the spark plug. Note they r to be removed one at a time and replaced immediately. Also I was told this by a family mechanic. The spark plugs are still in my car in the box because i have learned that there is no way to fix this car on your own u need a professional for every little thing. About the fuel filter listen to the GM and Dodge guy. It cost me $900 for a fuel pump and filter because the fuel system is very well hidden and difficult. Note the fuel pump it's self was 600-700 because it was in the tank or something like that! So be safe and take it in if the filter is all u need! I was here to look for help with the spark plug twist numbers for a V6 and I am still searching!

on my probe I just pull out this yellow box at the fusebox but this sable has a fuel pump shutoff in th trunk.I don't know how to change this oneI want to change the fuel filter on a 93 merc sable 3.0 help?
The fuel shut off disables the pump in the event of an accident you need not fool with this for a filter replacement. If you want to release the pressure, just go to the schrader valve on the fuel injector rail. It looks like an air valve. Wrap it with alarge cloth and take a small screw driver and push in the valve core. Alot of pressure there so keep your face out of the way.I want to change the fuel filter on a 93 merc sable 3.0 help?
That switch in the trunk is called your inertia switch it shuts off the fuel in the event of a collision get a repair manual and you should be able to find a fuse or relay to remove that will let you relieve the fuel pressure
you do not need to shut off any thing but the key

but becareful there could be some pressure relieved when first opening quick connect on filter
I don't think you have the tools to replace it yourself.

    http://autorepair.about.com/cs/doityours
You don't even need to touch the shut off relay, besides, that is in the event of a wreck. If inertia is applied in force, it triggers the switch to turn off fuel. Once the ignition is off, bleead the pressure out by depressing the tire like valve on the fuel rail. Change the filter and then turning the key on will repressurize it.

    Good Luck
After you shut off the car, lift the hood. On the fuel rail assembly where the injectors come from and you should find a valve that looks like a valve stem you see in a tire. Press the steel relief pin in the middle of it in and gasoline will squirt out and relieve the pressure.

It's called a pressure relief valve. The best way to relieve it is to place an old rag over while you push the pin in.

You're going to have some gasoline run out of the fuel line when you take the old filter off anyway, so use a catch pan.

You don't need to fool with that safety shutoff switch. It's a safety device and if you trigger it manually it might fail in the event of an accident.

Finally, if you're going to work on your own cars, invest in the repair manual sold for that year make and model of car. The name of the manual is Hayne's or Chilton's. Hayne's manuals are better. They tell you step by step how to properly make repairs just like this one, and much more.

They cost about twenty dollars but they are a wise investment.

    Good luck

Pull the fuse to the fuel pump, start the car, and let it run until it dies. That should bleed off enough line pressure to change the filter safely. I would still wrap a rag or shop towel around the filter when removing to catch any residual gas.
Look for your fuel injector ';rail'; which runs parallel to your spark plugs (this is located above them). Make certain your engine is cold and that you have a rag to absorb excess fuel. Wear safety glasses. On the end of the rail is where you will find the bleeder.

How do you do it on a Saab? i did pull the AMM and tried to start the car, same thing.Saab 1992 2.3 l 16 v will not fire, turns over. was run ruff at low speeds change fuel regular %26amp; filter?
To check if the fuel pump is bad, open up your fuse box and find the fuse for fuel pump and hazard warning lights. Pull them both out. Now get a small piece of insulated wire (18awg,like from a speaker) strip a half inch on both ends,

then jump the two empty fuse blocks together. You should hear the pump turn on, if you don't, it could be the problem.Saab 1992 2.3 l 16 v will not fire, turns over. was run ruff at low speeds change fuel regular %26amp; filter?
It sounds like you fouled the plugs.Pull the plugs and inspect them.If you are smelling gas when you turn the car over ,fuel delivery is not a problem. If the injector nozzles are getting plugged ,they would cause rough idle and plug fouling.Check the plugs for wetness (flooding)black deposits(carbon fouling from rich mixture).Replace the plugs and clean the injectors(fuel additive)It is a good idea to inspect the air filter at this time, and replace it if required.

takes.I have a 19860 oldsmobile ninety-eight and i wonna know if its hard to change a fuel filter and how long do it
it's not hard unless everything is rusty. average 10 minutes to an hour if rust is a big problem.I have a 19860 oldsmobile ninety-eight and i wonna know if its hard to change a fuel filter and how long do it
Very easy.....it's located just ahead of the rear tire on the drivers side under the car. You may need line wrenches to get a good grip on the filter, or if you gett'r done the redneck way......vise grips will work.
The filter is probably in line on the driver side of the car. It shouldnt take more then an hour or so. GM cars have a special fuel line wrench, but you can generally do the filter without one. Make sure you check first.
    Depends

Down here in Fl away from the ';rust belt' it takes about 20 miutes-its located under the car, back by the tank or just ahead of the left front tire. Takes a lot longer if it hasn't been changed in a while, or if the lines are rusted.

My friend said that it was easy and i didnt want to waste my money by going to a dealer to get it changedDoes anybody know how to change the fuel filter on a Lexus es300?
Replacement procedure is simple. Put a rag over it, and open the bolts %26amp; take out the filter. The put new filter in and torque down the bolts. I can usually do it in less than 30 minutes. As a beginner, it will take 1 hour or more.Does anybody know how to change the fuel filter on a Lexus es300?
If you can afford an overrated Toyota, you can afford to take it to the dealer for an oil change. If you can not pay for the maintenance, you should not bought it ;-)
it is called life time filter because you are supposed to leave it in the car for 100K or more. If you have anything you leave in for 100K in the car, taking out would be difficult. You are going need a breaker bar that is least 18'; long with good quality socket to open the bolt. Taking it to a mechanic isn't a bad idea.

Can anyone tell me how to change the fuel filter on a 1997 Jeep Wrangler SE and whether it is difficult or not? Thanks!!1997 Jeep Wrangler Fuel Filter Change?
There is a coarse fuel filter attached to the fuel pump in the gas tank but there is also a finer fuel filter located in the gas line that leads to the engine. NAPA or Auto Zone should have the filter along with instructions as to how to replace it.

does any 1 no how to change a fuel filter and how hard is it, r they manuel pump or automatic ?Kia sedona 2.9crdi 53plate fuel filter change?
most newer cars have the fuel filter in the engine bay attached to the firewall. Trace the line from the fuel line to the back of the engine. It is usually a black housing with brass fittings.

Take a look, beside a flare nut wrench, it's all pretty much just nuts and a banjo bolt. Just make sure the fuel system is depressurized before you go messing with it and have lots of rags handy for spilled fuel.Kia sedona 2.9crdi 53plate fuel filter change?
The pump is in the gas tank. The filter is in the engine compartment It is easy to change, you will need a 19mm wrench and a 5/8

remove the top bolt (19mm) while holding the bottom line with the 5/8s

    unscrew the filter

    That is it.

easy. just 2 hose clamps. might be located in a rough spot though. should be easy, just follow your fuel line.
there is a special tool to disconnect the fuel lines, you can get one at a parts store, but other than that its easy, jack the car up on the left side and it shoud be on the frame area.most fords use the same tool to replace the fuel filter.it goes around the fuel line and then push it in to release the lock on the line then pull the line back to remove line.to install just push line back on till it clicks,no tooling needed for that, hope this helps.

I'm pretty handy, should I try it?How hard is it to change a fuel filter on a '92 GrandAm?
    It can be a little tricky if you're not familiar with how to dis-connect the Quick-Connect fittings;

    http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us/090

Other than that, you'll need some ramps to drive the rear end up on. And it's a lot less messy if you relieve the fuel system pressure. Click the link on that same page for the type of fuel system you have (probably Multi-Port, unless you have the ';Iron Duke'; 2.5L), then ';Relieving Fuel System Pressure';. Even then, some safety goggles aren't a bad idea. Gasoline in the eyes stings pretty good. LOLHow hard is it to change a fuel filter on a '92 GrandAm?
on a scale from 1 - 10 i give that one a 2, but i do them every day. as long as it is a threaded line on both sides you should have no problem but if it is a quick release type (which i do not think that it should be) that can get tricky.
if your pretty handy go for it.just make sure you use the correct size wrenches.spray lines with WD40 or some type of penetrating spray

first.also inspect the line oring for damage
A little less hard than on a 95 Le Sabre

Just open the hood and look at the top of the firewall and a little left, looks like half a coke can painted black with two fuel lines going in the top. Very easy to change (2 wrenches and a screwdriver), will take about 40 minutes if you don't know what you're doing, and will only cost $12-25 depending on if you have to buy the tools. How to change a fuel filter?
i follow the line from the fuel injector rail to the firewall,if its not there i go underneath and follow the line back till i see a small silver or black canister most of the non american cars use hose clamps or metal fittings,if you still dont see it, it is non serviceable and is in the tank changed when the pump is changed
It's in the backseat (the bottom part of the seat can be removed and this will expose to the top of the gas tank.)
Here's a link for 95-2005 Civics but it would give you some idea.

After you have located the fuel filter, if it is serviceable, and you are ready to change it. Locate the fuse which controls the fuel pump. Crank the engine, remove the fuel pump fuse and let the engine run. It will stop on its own. This relieves the pressure in the fuel lines.
passenger side on a L4 above the transmission on the fire wall. on a v6 it will be on the other side. to replace be careful and follow the book. is is not that tricky to do but make sure that you replace the washers when you remove the banjo fittings.

Changing fuel filter on 2000 Chevy PU?

I ran my truck out of gas right at the pump and once it was fueled it would not fire.. if I held the gas pedal down it would start to catch but never fully fire.

I get the truck home, change the fuel filter thinking I just got something plugging it up, but with the new filter it does nothing. Any ideas other than fuel pump?? I don't see how running out of gas would trash my fuel pump.. any ideas?Changing fuel filter on 2000 Chevy PU?
The gas in the tank helps cool the fuel pump .Pour the gas out of your old fuel filter. If fine black particles come out its probably your fuel pump. You should hear the pump run for a few seconds when you turn the key on.

If you dont hear it check the fuse,

www.autozone.com has instructions for removing the fuel pump.Changing fuel filter on 2000 Chevy PU?
the truck is fuel injected. If you floor it while starting it actually disables the ignition system to prevent it from starting. The fuel filter should not be the problem. You need to make sure the fuel pump is supplying proper pressure. Running a tank empty puts a severe strain on a fuel pump. If you have filled the tank up and can hear the pump run, keep cranking the engine and it should start. It might take a minute of cranking but it should start as long as you have fuel pressure. Just don't even touch the gas pedal. That's what fuel injection is for!
If your truck was surging, like it was out of fuel before this happen, then its you fuel pump. That happen to my car one time. I thought it was also the fuel filter. Normally that is what you change first. take it to a garage and they can test your fuel pump

Don't worry it will let you know when it's time. How often do I have to change a fuel filter on a 2001 chevy Blazer?
when its dirty..have it checked at 60000
I do it on my truck every 20,000 Kms. I think that's around 12,000 miles. Don't forget the air filter.
More likely the air filter. It's getting plenty of fuel, Yes...that's the problem. It could be air starved.
Check the owner's manual. This is a good source for a lot of the basic maintenance questions.

On my truck the regular interval is listed as 30,000, but under the severe duty it is 15,000 miles.

If you go off roading, tow or live in a mountainous area you would want to use the severe duty interval.

I think maintenance is supposed to be preventive not reactive. I do not subscribe to waiting till a dash light comes on. If you are a do it your self kind of person you will need the proper tool to disconnect the filter. You also need to release the pressure in the fuel line before you attempt to disconnect the filter.

That's the filter with three really long hoses attached. Squeeze the lock tabs on the end of each hose and twist the hose as you pull it. The connection on the top of the tank is hard to reach but it can be done without dropping the tank.

if i do where can i get, what does it look like and how much is it. I could not find one anywhere.

Thanks for the help!I have a 1997 ford E350 with a V10 6.8L engine, to change the fuel filter do i need a special tool?
Yes, you will need a special tool, it is called a spring lock tool. They are made of plastic and they wrap around the fuel line. You can find them and most auto part stores. When you go to get one, tell the parts guy you are trying to remove a fuel filter on your vehicle. and BE SURE to tell him it is for a Ford. He will know exactly what you are looking for. If you are not sure how to use it, ask the parts guy, he will show you how. You commonly buy that tool as a set which has different sizes. a good set will cost about $20. give or take.I have a 1997 ford E350 with a V10 6.8L engine, to change the fuel filter do i need a special tool?
Yes you probably will ask one of your mechanic friends cause a shop will tell you any thing to make you give it to them so they can get paid. Good Luck!
    Should just be regular tools
Yes you will need a tool that releases the fuel line couplers. It can be borrowed from Autozone for free but you will have to leave a deposit.
if it has those connectors that are little donuts around the fuel line, the tool is very inexpensive. They are plastic and come in a kit with all the sizes.

No other tool replaces them and they are very easy to use. I had to buy a set for my daughter's tempo I think the set was about 5 bucks. I believe it is called a fuel line coupling release tool.
My boyfriend works on cars and he just told me that u should go to auto zone, strauss or pep boys.

You need a fuel line release.

It's a plastic circle that goes within the circle. Then you push it in %26amp; then it gets released.
    no just a mortgage
no, but you should go to a mechanic!

How do i change a fuel filter?

do i need to know anything before changing it? will gas pour out at me? and if so how do i stop it? and will their be air in the lines? How do i change a fuel filter?
First of all, before you get going to do it, do you know where the fuel filter is located? It will either be a round canister looking thing on the frame rail with one rubber line coming out and one going in. That will be easy, some gas will come out, but as long as you have the car off, it will stop within a few seconds, just watch your face! If you are unlucky, the filter is in the fuel tank, which you will definitely not be able to replace yourself unless you have the tools and are confident you can drop the gas tank and put it back in. Good luck!

Oh, and, when you are done, turn the key in the on position (without starting it), then off, on, then off, then on, then start. This will ensure that the pump re pressurizes the system. How do i change a fuel filter?
what year and make of vehicle?

bleed the pressure first to avoid gas all over problems.

could be 2 clamps and a 5 dollar in line filter. Could be in your gas tank and take a few hundred dollars. moRe info please.

    Wayne
Depends on the type of car and the type of filter. Some are easy to get to, some are under the car. Some are connected with hoses and clamps (easy), some are connected to hard lines and require a special release tool to get them loose. You will get gas on you, and air in the fuel lines isn't an issue. Not the amount you will get from changing a filter. To be more specific, I would need to know the make, model and year of the car.
-what kind of car is it,and yes it will spray u will need to depressurize it

Fuel filter change on Peugeot 106... how important?

I've had my Peugeot 106 for just over 2 years now, but it's just over 6 years old, and only 41,000 miles on the clock. I need to get it serviced but don't know what type of service I need, I have been told that there's a basic one, and also one where they change the fuel filter for 拢100 more... seems pretty expensive to me, but how important is it to get this changed? The last time it was serviced was at 30,000 miles, before I got it... Please help!Fuel filter change on Peugeot 106... how important?
Look in the vehicle handbook, it will give the service schedule for the 106, different cars have different features which need attention, I guess the 106 is a diesel,

The minor service, drain oil and replace with Crappo brand oil, wipe the oil filter to make it look like new and tell you you need 拢 400 worth of tyres/ shocks/ alignment etc is a Crap fit speciality and is OK if you do 6000 per year to get the tyres tread checked and oil changed, but it aint a service, but they wont do the little things that a decent local garage will do and you can easily find the cam belt change mileage has slipped by and you need a new engine 'cause it has snapped.

Oil suffers from short journeys, condensation forms internally, then boils off after about 6 or 7 miles when the oil temp comes up, if the engine does not run at full temperature for a while the resulting water sinks to the bottom of the engine raising the oil level, after a while internal corrosion starts, and the ol level gets too high which starts oil loss through the breather system, if the car then does a motorway journey the water boils off and the oil level drops alarmingly for this reason a short journey car should have 6 montly oil changes, while a 10 000 per year can make do with a 12 monthly changes. Low mileage cars are not a particularly clever buy, One of mine has done 172 000 at present, it replaced a newer one of the same model which was uneconomic to repair at 89 000, but it still gets regular services despite running out of service book at 96 000,

Fuel filters are use related not age, use the same supermarket for fuel every time the filter will probably outlive the car fill up from local garages, with dirty stale petrol, you will need a filter about every 20 000, fill up from jerrycans which have been uesed for creosote, it is about 20 miles, I actually managed 2 on one memorble occasion.

So check the handbook, or wander round your pug dealer and ask what their service consists of, write it down and get your local garage to do it, but never exceed time or mileage on a cam belt, my mates Fiat Regatta belt broke 500 miles before the change was due....Fuel filter change on Peugeot 106... how important?
It is a good idea to change the fuel filter I can mine on my Peugeot 406 every 12,000 miles as it collects all of the crap from the fuel and fuel tank. I am very surprised that it is an extra 拢100 as the filter is only pounds and if it is a diesel it is a 5 minute job. If it was me I would get prices from a few more garages as I think they are having a laugh. Good luck
If its a petrol 106 with the TU1 engine (1100 cc) then the fuel filter is an in line plastic affair and costs next to nothing from any motor factors.

A reputable garage should change the Oil, filter, Plugs and Air filter. It's not necessary to get the expensive service done yet, and judging by your mileage (approx 5000 a year) then an oil change and basic service is best.

when it hits 50k or even 55k then get a major service done, which will mean brakes, Gearbox oil (possibly) all filters and maybe the coolant changed. Shop around, or get a recommendation from a friend as regarding the best local garage or mechanic to do it.

I have a 205 peugeot with an 1100 cc engine, I've had it since 97, she's done 145,000 miles and gets new oil every 10k and a service every 15.
Considering that you have had two years motoring, 拢100 doesnt sound out of the way to me theres much more to a service than just changing an fuel filter what about the oil filter and air filter not besides all the checks that have to be carried out on a normal

    10000 mile service.

How hard is it to change the fuel filter on a 2003 Honda Odyssey?

DO NOT try to change those filters, they are life time filters and so not need to be changed, usually they are located in the fuel tank, but if the filter is located in the engine compartment, then that is changeable, and it is not hard to change them, all you need is three wrenches, sizes are different for every car, usually a 14mm, one 17mm and a 10mm will do, and you have to be able to get to it, that is the hard part, and be careful the fuel system is pressurized always, make sure to open the fuel line slowly and let the pressurized fuel drain first, then you could open the line and change the filter, good luckHow hard is it to change the fuel filter on a 2003 Honda Odyssey?
